After a tonsillectomy, I experienced a condition called dysgeusia where my sense of taste was nearly shot. I went from not being able to taste at all to everything tasting like someone was pouring salt down my mouth. I read the scholarly literature on this common post-tonsillectomy side effect, and a number of studies cited Zinc Sulfate as a method to cure this problem. Well, I've been taking it for about 9 days and my taste is almost back to where it was pre-tonsillectomy. I'm still working on my ability to taste sweet things without distortion but I am back enjoying most of the foods I ate before.

The picture shows Rugby brand, but I received Geri-Care brand. The strengths are the same, but the image is misleading. Buyer beware.

I have ordered this product several times before and was surprised this time to receive a product that was packaged differently and a pill that was of different size and composition. It is also a different strength than what I ordered. Since I crush these pills for dosing, I was disappointed to find a smaller, more compact pill than previously delivered. I dislike being surprised and would have preferred communication giving me a choice as to whether I wanted to accept the substitute product.

Good product, fast shipping. One point. The label states that it contains 50mg of zinc. I called the manufacturer and they explained that 220 mg of zinc sulfate has 50 mg of actual zinc. Go figure......

HBA zone had Zinc in the form that is difficult to find - Zinc Sulfate (zinc comes mostly in other forms such as zinc glutonate). The package arrived quickly and was well-packed. This is the type of zinc that the veterinarian indicated was the only type to give to my dog for her problem. Thank you HBA Zone.
