4Easy to AssembleApr 21, 2009
By Janice L. Mcmullen
This is a great product for outdoor use and was easy to assemble. We put ours on 4 tiles and one row of 6 cinderblocks that cost an addition $11.00. I like that we can just screw in our hose, turn the valve on and be able to water anywhere. We will save money on our water bill to water our garden this year and may need to buy another one if we add to our garden and flower bed next year.

5Simple, Functional, UsefulOct 05, 2010
By Ben C.A. Nettle
We purchased this to help water the garden (got it discounted), and avoid having to run the hose back and forth all the time.

Prior to installing it under the gutter, I set it under the eves on an area that didn't have gutters, and it filled up pretty quickly. The screen keeps out the big chunks, leaves, etc., but depending on what's on your roof you may end up with dark colored water. No problem for watering the garden (and I wasn't expecting to drink it anyway).

The lower hose attachment is pretty handy, and the upper "overflow" hose lets you direct where the excess goes.

Where we live, it freezes hard (for about 6 months straight) but if you empty it prior to freeze-over, it keeps it from cracking/breaking (as a previous review mentioned), and it's easy to fill up again in the spring with a couple shovel-fuls of snow melting.

Will be looking for more when it drops back down into my price range.

5Easy set upMar 22, 2009

I just received and the set up was easy. The color fits right in with the landscape. The top cover has a screen which can be removed and cleaned. Much sturdier than I thought. So far I am pleased and waiting for some rain to fill it up.

4One out of two were great!May 19, 2009
By D. Boyce
My first suncast rain barrel is great. Pretty easy to set up. The necessary concrete blocks cost about $12. Cutting the gutter was the hardest part. Very easy to use once it is set up. Water collects so quickly I ordered a second one. It arrived with boxcutter slashes in the side and bottom. Not sure what happened to quality control! Returning a rain barrel is the pits but Amazon is covering the cost, and when I get my credit for the return I'll try again.

2Round barrels are strongerFeb 09, 2012
By Guy Paul Swenson "Rounding Out The Curve"
I have three of these. One of them split along the bottom front corner after being full of rain just three times. There was no freezing issue (I live in South-Central Texas), just the fact that that much pressure from that much water, visibly strains the corners of this design. I should have bought round rain barrels because the water pressure is more evenly distributed. Two other issues with this product: The hoses are of very cheap quality and the valve attachment hardware is even worse. They are inclined to leak at the bottom valve or not release any water at all unless jiggled. They do need to be placed at a considerably high level to get enough force out of the bottom valve. I have two of mine 16" off the ground and the other 24" off the ground.
I managed to patch the split in the cracked rain barrel and so far it's holding, but if I replace it, it will be with a round design.
