a little caution...Aug 28, 2010 I used Schiff's brand. Swallowed 3 mg the first night and, though nauseated, concked out within 1 hour. Awoke several times during the night but went right back to sleep. I was pretty groggy with a slight headache the next day so after researching, via the internet, "safe doses" from the medical establishment I reduced it to 1/2 tablet. It still worked but with way less grogginess. There are no long term studies and everything has a side-effect----EVERYTHING, whether or not we're aware of it. By the third night of 1/2 tab I developed heart palpatations and what fell like pressure in my head, as well as taking 3 hours to fall asleep. After doing more research on possible heart-related side effects I found that in a small percentage of people it actually causes heart irregularities and increased blood pressure. The palpitations lasted all the next day, off and on and are finally subsiding. Before popping 10 mg or claiming there are NO side-effects to this supplement, read up on the findings. I've also seen 5-HTP highly recommended in some threads, to be taken with or instead of melatonin. BAD idea---even from the naturepaths! Natural does NOT mean safe.
Taking it with ADD and depression MedicationJul 05, 2010 I have been having sleep issue since taking ADD medication & Antidepressant, I could not sleep without 5 pill of Advil or Advil PM or other sleeping Aid, therefore I gave Schiff a shot,.before using it I read some online article about that medication could cause or increase depression, I have been using it for 3 days so far
1- I was able to drift to sleep slowly after 30 Minutes of taking it, but still couldn't sleep therefore I took two regular Advil, after another 30 minutes I was in a deep sleep. before taking the Advil and after taking Melatonin while trying to sleep, I felt a little bet annoyed or depressed strange feeling inside me may be because I wanted to sleep but I couldn't
2- second night I took Melatonin by itself after 30 minutes i felt sleepy, after an hour from taking it I went to sleep, I was able to fall sleep immediately, I had a good night of sleep that night.
3- third night took melatonin felt sleepy after 30 minutes but since I was watching a movie with a wife I decided to stay up couple hours, then went to sleep like a baby. around 3am my 2 year old woke up crying, after putting her back to sleep, I was able to go back to sleep without a trouble.
I purchased this Melatonin from Club warehouse for $5 and some change, it is worth it for the price, its better than spending more than $12 on pain pm pills that sometimes don't work, and it is better and cheaper than taking prescription medication.
Might work for you and it might not, but I can say that it worked with me so far, the best part, I don't wake up in the morning feeling that I'm still sleepy and cant move because of PM pain pills or other sleeping aide. this medication I believe it will give your body the kick to go to sleep.

Restless sleepJun 04, 2010 Well, researchers said that it should be tried for 3 days tell it gives a result. I have used it for the three days and then decided to quit. I had the worst sleep ever restless and irritable for the three days, I slept better before using it. I think it is not for me and you should consider that it might be not for you either.

Didn't help at allApr 28, 2010 All the good reviews I saw on here helped me to decide to try this out but unfortunately I didn't get the same results. My problem hasn't been falling asleep, but staying asleep, every night I wake up only to see the alarm showing 1:30 or 2:00. Here is what I did.
Day1: Took one pill, swallowed whole. This was by far the worst nights sleep I had in awhile. I don't think I slept for more than 30 minutes at a time and it took me 3 hours to fall asleep the first time.
Day2: Same as Day1. I thought maybe Day1 was just a fluke and something else was keeping me awake. While not as bad as Day1 there was no improvement from my nights of taking nothing, in fact I think I woke up earlier in the night than I usually do.
Day3: Sucked it like candy until it dissolved. I saw a few reviewers, including the top rated one, saying this was the way to do it, but once again it did nothing for me. Also, it took forever dissolve, probably around 15-20 minutes. Had no noticeable taste.
Day4: Chewed it into dust then swallowed it with some water. I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but once again, nothing.
Day5: Same as Day4 but took two tablets. Same results.
Don't know what else to say, I had high hopes for this product, but it didn't help me at all. Time to try something else.

Poor ProductApr 24, 2010 I've used Melatonin for years and think it's the best. I thought this would be even better....it's NOT. I would almost swear that it even kept me up at night!
