 Good product but problematic packagingSep 25, 2010

My wife loves these. They are thin, stretchable, sized for most applications, and easy to apply. The standard Salonpas patch uses 6.3% methyl silacylate as opposed to these 10% patches. My wife says they are more effective and clearly prefers them to the standard patch.
So what is the problem? Well, you get five to the box and all five come in one sealed foil package that says at the top "Discard unused patches 14 days after opening". There is also an instruction to fold the opened foil package twice, presumably to maintain the useful life of the patch.
Setting aside certain questions (will these patches last 14 days, can I use all of them in 14 days), I have to ask why Salonpas did not package each patch individually. Yes, there might be cost issues, but Salonpas has unfairly passed the cost decision on to the customer. They have also passed on a dilemma of sorts - seal and pray, or throw good money away. I urge Salonpas to reconsider.

i am always surprised when something works as advertised. these pain patches work as well as my prescription patches at a much reduced costs. there is a faint 'menthol' scent that i don't care for but it's reasonably light and, therefore, tolerable.

I have some lower back issues and thus some intermittent pain if I'm not careful. These patches do seem to do a good job of offering relief, usually until the irritation subsides. One caveat though, DON'T leave them on longer than the instructions suggest!

These work okay but I prefer the Pain Relief patches. These say Arthritis pain relief but the Pain Relief ones have another ingredient for pain.
