5This Stuff Works Great! Thank God!Aug 08, 2010
By The Happy Artist
In thirty years we have gotten flea infestations twice. We have always had a couple of dogs and a couple of cats and they have always worn flea collars year round. But when you get infested, it's the pits. Our first time was 20 years ago, we used the foggers, and had to leave the house for hours while the foggers went off - and then clean every surface when we came back and we had to do it like twice in a couple of weeks! So when we got infested again this year, I was really upset... I remembered how hard it was to get rid of them, and how uncomfortable everyone was while doing it. I found this Raid Flea Killer Carpet Spray at Target and it worked really well. (I'm sorry but unless you are going to overnight your spray from Amazon, the sooner you get after the fleas the better you are.)

The smell isn't bad, and within an hour of spraying I went from 10 to 20 fleas on my legs while standing in the infested area of the basement (which is how we discovered we had them, the animals were pretty clean) to none. NONE. Now I don't think we're done yet, fleas are really tough, and it was big room (20' x 30') and I may have missed a few spots. I will probably spray again in a few weeks.

If you have a flea infestation, get this stuff. Worked for us great. Now to summarize from the reviews I saw around the web: Although a lot of reviews said it's OK to spray on dogs,... I wouldn't. Most everyone agrees the smell is bearable. I didn't see ANY reviews that said it didn't work. Yes it's a Chemical... some people objected to that. My day started in a panic because I found we had an infestation in the basement carpet. My day ended with relief that we seem to have knocked it back to near zero. And if it truly kills the eggs like Raid says, then I may have knocked it out entirely. I hate fleas... I now love this Raid Flea Killer Carpet Spray. It worked. Period.

5Great product!Oct 11, 2010

This product was recommended to me by an exterminator. He warned me it was hard to find, but luckily Amazon found it for me. After trying bombs, other sprays and gallons of insecticide, Raid in the purple can killed all the fleas -- which were driving us out of the house -- in one main spray and a light spray the second day. I would recommend it to anyone with a flea problem.

5Fast & EffectiveOct 02, 2010

Raid actually offers a different version of flea killer plus in a misting spray (hard to find)
that you can spray directly on pets, and it also has a pleasant scented deodorizer.
You can also use to spray bedding, carpeting, curtains, etc.

I have used both the Room/Carpet spray and the pet spray for years in my poodles, with no ill effects.

5RAID!? NOOOOO!Aug 18, 2011
By Bertha Melody
I had an infestation of fleas in my basement. Being that I had my cat for 8 years and never had a problem with fleas I had no experience getting rid of them. So I went out and bought industrial strength flea spray. Guess what? Didn't work that well. Killed a few fleas... about half the infestation. Which, was good... but not great. So about two weeks later I used Frontline on my cat (again) with capstar (again) to help her stop itching. Then I decided I would try RAID. I vacuumed the basement (which is cement) and put flea collars in the vacuum. I vacuumed the upstairs (main living area) and put a flea collar in that vacuum as well. Then I took my RAID and I kid you not... the fleas looked at me and said, "RAID?! NOOOOOO!" Just like the commercials. As I sprayed the basement they jumped on me clinging for life. Then I sprayed my legs too. I had about 10 fleas on my legs (so you can estimate my flea infestation) but I kept spraying. I did the upstairs. I sprayed my couch, my bed, and all floors. Amazingly, my house didn't smell like that typical bug spray smell. I still left the house for about 30 minutes with all the windows shut. (I also left the A/C on to help the spray circulate through the duct work) (The cat was removed from the house too) When I came home I could easily breathe as I was not overwhelmed with bug spray smell. And guess what? The fleas were DEAD. GONE. It's been 2 weeks now and I have seen 2-3 fleas. But after the big infestation I had, that is to be expected. I will spray one more time this coming weekend and I am confident that the fleas will be gone forever. (as long as my cat doesn't get outside again!) PS. I am keeping her on frontline for 3 more months to make sure I get through the whole flea life cycle. THIS STUFF WORKS. This is the real deal. Get it now. (but don't get it here) Go to the red store with the bullseye or any other department store that sells it. I think men ards sells it too.

UPDATE: I waited about 2 weeks and sprayed my house again. I still have my cat on Frontline. I haven't seen a flea in weeks. I am confident that they are gone. Yeah!

4Be CarefulSep 25, 2011

I used to work for a supplier of these and other pesticides. That said I know first hand the dangers of these products from various exposures I had in the course of my job. Raid is fairly mild compared some of the more "kill everything" sort of products, but that said, please people, don't be going through several cans for an apartment. Follow the directions and realize that no matter what you do, you will not kill all of the fleas. I was finally forced to buy this product when following a flood (flooding your yard does not work...mine was in a flash flood and that is why I have an infestation) when I had the first infestation I had ever experienced. I regularly run the Hoover, and deal with the occasional stray flea, but nothing prepared me for these things climbing out from the deepest reaches of the carpeting to attack my cat and me. My cat is now on Frontline and has only had one flea on him in the past three days, most likely that one died shortly after I saw him. The remaining fleas have found that my blood tastes just as good which is why I finally had to break down and spray the place. Do not spray it on your pets and use as little as possible. You don't have to wear protective gear, but I'd recommend letting the area air out before returning, around 20-60 minutes is ample enough. If you have outdoor pets, Frontline or not, you will still need to spray it again every so often. And one last tip for those without a basement or a closed porch: fleas are lazy, whoever said that you don't need to focus much on the high traffic areas does not seem to understand that a flea can get anywhere it wants and when an egg falls off you or your pet, that thing will get tracked into the carpeting. I'd recommend focusing on the high traffic areas, get the tight spots too, but focus on where you and your pets usually are. a basement or porch flea issue is an entirely different story
