5Sticking with this meter and test stripsJan 20, 2012
By Twopennygal
I started testing in July, 2011. I've been through five different meters. The only one I liked before this one was Abbott's Freestyle Lite meter and strips, but they are very expensive. Every other meter I've gotten has read higher than the Freestyle. I thought initially it was the other meters, especially since those other meters were not consistent from one strip to the next and could vary way more than the plus or minus 10% that they are supposed to be "allowed." This one also reads high than the Freestyle, but it is at least consistent with itself. Very seldom do I have readings that when repeated vary by more than a few points.

When I have tried to "calibrate" with blood sugar tests at the clinic, the Freestyle has been a little below while the others were all higher than the clinic result. I haven't tryed comparing this one with the clinic yet.

As to the discrepancy with the Freestyle meter, I wound up coming up with a chart to account for the differences because the discrpancy increased exponentially from the Freestyle the higher the numbers got. And not a strict percentage. Basically, when my readings are below 90, they are about equal, but when the Freestyle reads 130, the other meters read in the 160s (putting the Freestyle at about 75% of the other meters). I recently had my A1C tested and it was 6.5, which the clinic says equates to an average of 140 for the three months it covers. If that's the case, based on the testing I've been doing (disclaimer: I'm definitely anal, I test a lot and keep charts!), then the "other" meters are all high and the Freestyle is low. So I'll use my calculations and have a chart that shows a range of where I am, using this meter as the upper limit of that range.

So now, I'm going to stay with the Precision Xtra and keep my charts and use my conversion chart to give myself a range of where my blood sugar is. I'm more interested in the trend anyway, which is going down, thank goodness!

3Unsure of productMay 11, 2011
By Elizabeth C. Morris
My husband is extreme diabetic and I ordered these as he is only entitled to 4 testing a day thru his insurance and he sometimes test as many as 5 or 6 times. With these strips we find these measure 20 points more than the ones from the drug store. I was concerned they may not be original.

3Expiry dateFeb 10, 2009
By Kathryn E. Neely "KEN"
Shipping was timely But some of the expiry dates were only until Dec 08.
Otherwise the purchasing and getting the goods was fine.

4Good product at a good priceMar 23, 2012
By Nancy Dawson
These strips served their purpose very well and the price was very affordable. My only complaint was that the box was slightly crushed when I received it, but it did not affect the strips at all. They work very well and I would order again.

By Angelika Terletzki
The product I've ordered was new and came to me house in good condition. Because of the customs, it was to expensive.
