As a microwave basics cook, this fits my needs perfectly. PS: I think Panasonic must have fixed its display window problemJul 04, 2010
By Sharon Isch The age of my old 600-watt Sharp must have been well into double-digits when its carousel stopped going 'round, after a cup of milk I was heating for hot chocolate fell over and drowned the mechanism (although the microwave itself was still going strong.) It was my intention to replace it with another Sharp. But I chose this one instead because other Panasonic products have served me long and well and I am particularly partial to a dial mechanism, like my old Sharp's-- but no longer available in that brand--and preferred it to keying in entries on an LCD pad, which some of the reviews here for the 800-watt Sharps were saying had a tendency to go pfft in short order.
Of course the Panasonic reviews were grousing about not being able to read the clock except head-on. I decided I'd rather go for a hard-to-read clock/display window than a potentially faulty LCD panel, so I opted for this one and I'm glad I did. I have tried on numerous occasions in the two weeks I've owned this microwave to find an angle from which I could NOT read the clock and, try as I might, I can't find one. So I'm guessing that somewhere between all the complaints in these reviews and my buying my new microwave in June 2010, Panasonic must have fixed that problem.
My uses for a microwave are pretty basic: I reheat, melt, thaw, pop, Stoufferize and steam frozen veggie melanges, and for those purposes this works beautifully, looks good, and fits the designated space I have for it. I'm very happy with this product and will revisit this review if any of that changes.
Update 10/12/11: Still very happy with this product. Still plan to let you know here if ever that changes.

Great little microwave, but not perfectAug 08, 2009
By R. Daugherty It's true, the display is unreadable unless you look at it straight on. It's hard to believe this microwave made it to the production line with this obvious design flaw. This is a countertop model. I'm 5'11", and I have to stoop down to read the display. My wife is 5'3". It's not so much of an issue for her.
The unit we received from Amazon had another flaw. The four feet wouldn't rest flat on the counter. I solved this by sticking a 1/8" thick rubber "furniture protector" thingy under one of the feet. I don't think our granite counter top is that far out of whack, so I'm blaming the microwave.
Even with the flaws taken into consideration, I still think this is the best microwave in this size. It has a nice solid feel, good buttons, intuitive controls, and it looks fantastic in our stainless kitchen. It's just the right size for our needs. We don't do any serious cooking in it - just reheating and defrosting and such - and for that, it's perfect. Some small microwaves don't have a rotating turntable. This one does, and a dinner plate fits on it with room to spare. We aren't popcorn eaters so I can't comment on how well it pops. Neither can I comment on its reliability, since we've only had it a month. If you research the matter, I think you'll find all brands have their detractors these days, and there's no obvious winner on internal quality. I did verify there was a Panasonic service center in my home town before buying.

Great, small little Microwave, stylish with flawsJun 22, 2007

Well, what can I say? Replaced an older Sharp with this one and it works great. Great styling on the 'chassis' it's small, but fits all regular plates. Is it 'better' than another 800W Microwave? No. It looks better, works well. And is a bit more expense. I can take that. However, one flaw impossible to overlook is the IMPOSSIBLE-to-read display. Possibly the worst design ever; it's green, and can only be seen direct on (as it illumanted the 2nd reflective layer). Go 10 degrees either side, you might as well look at a green blob (or, if you move further, nothing). I assume Panasonic will fix this is later revisions, but this is unexcusable for something this standard. Mind you, head on (and I mean, HEAD on) it's fine..... If you don't care what the display shows, a great unit. If you are buyign this for someone with less than 39/39 eyesight............

Great little but powerful microwaveJan 31, 2010

I searched for a while for a smaller (0.8 Cub. feet) microwave that not only heats the food evenly but also has a simple interface and a good look. I ordered through amazon and it came in a few days with UPS ground. The box had been damaged by a sharp cut on one f the edges, however, luckily the oven was not damaged. It looks great in the kitchen and it occupies much less room. The interface is pretty simple and easy to use and the knob is great compared to punching on a keypad which I always disliked.
People had complained about the LED display where it is not readbale form tilted angles. I knew this before I ordered (it was not a show stopper). However for those who have problem with this, here is the solution: Just stay away from the display by about 2.5 feet or more and the display is visible from a much wider angle and it is easily readable. Though Panasonic should have used a better quality LED display, but as I mentioned that issue goes away if you keep a 2.5 feet or more distance to read the display. I guess some of the people using it are looking at the display from close distances and experience that issue. So if you are near sighted and do not have your glasses or lenses, this could drive you crazy. For others it should be just fine.

elegant, well functioning compact microwaveAug 19, 2010
By Rob S. Plumped for the Panasonic after spending a couple of hours reading reviews here at Amazon and elsewhere, and about one month in I'm still 100% happy with our choice.
We were looking for something under $100 that would serve daily duty cooking veggies and soups, reheating meals and the occasional warmed cup of coffee.
The microwave looks great, the controls are very straightforward and fast to use (single or minimal touch options like "quick min" or reheat - selecting number of servings with the dial). Even the LED clock isn't that hard to see unless you are right on top of it, and it's not really been an issue.
This microwave looks great and does everything we want in a slick and well thought out way. As an added bonus, Panasonic has been around for ages and I've had good experiences wtih their stuff in the past.
There are cheaper microwaves out there, but this is good value for this price range and wattage and I would definitely recommend it.
