5Easy to use; very accurateSep 15, 2007
By She Who Shares Home With Pets
I got this monitor to keep track of my blood pressure so that I could give the printed reports to my doctor. I have one that I got from Sharper Image that is easy to use but you can't upload readings to a computer. The one from Sharper Image was also not very accurate when compared to using a regular doctor grade cuff with a stethoscope. The Omron monitor is much easier to use than the Sharper Image one, is easier to ensure the proper position and the uploading of the readings is very easy. I took the Omron monitor to my doctor to have her calibrate it against her measurements and the Omron monitor was nearly identical. Based on that and the printed reports, I was taken off my blood pressure medication!

4Compact, accurate, data logging, Great product.Nov 05, 2007

I like what Omron did with this BP monitor.

Pros:
Compact
Accurate
Easy to read display
Has memory to log readings over time
Computer interface to download memory (print or email to your doc.

Cons:
Instruction could be clearer
Included software could have a clearer user interface

I really like the way it measures the blood pressure AS it pumps up so it never pumps up higher than it needs to to get a pressure reading. Many other BP Monitors pump up to 160-180 then measure the pressure as it bleeds off the air.

To the Engineers: I'd like to see the next model have a wireless way to transfer the data. I travel which is why I bought a compact monitor. My laptop case has too many cables already and now I have another one. Consider WiFi, Bluetooth, SD card. Also a backlit display would be nice. I would pay more for these features.

As a former Biomed tech that tested and repaired 100's of BP Monitors I can say with some authority that this is a winner.

1Consistently inaccurateMar 18, 2008
By LarBear "AmazonPrimer"
I've had this unit for a week, and am returning it. It's very easy to use, confortable, fast, and the downloadable feature makes keeping records for one's doctor to review a snap. The ONLY problem: when compared to blood pressure monitors at my local hospital and my personal physician's office, it consistently reads Diastolic high, usually by about 30 points, and Dyastolic high, by around 15 points. I am being evaluated for hypertension and since I *usually* measure within healthy ranges at medical faclities, with only the occasional very high repeatable reading, I have been directed to take frequent, scheduled measurements at home. The degree of error found in this possibly defective unit -- which I note appears to be atypical for most customers -- is enough to suggest the need for specific treatments where none may be necessary.

The Automatic Positioning System and Intellisense technology featured in this product seemed to work just fine, consistently guiding me to position my wrist in the same locale over my chest, thus I believe that my experience may not reflect the behavior of a properly functioning Omron HEM-670IT.

I am returning this unit to AMAZON, and ordering the arm cuff style HEM-790IT, which appears to not be as convenient to carry around, but seems to enjoy better reviews and is more trusted for accuracy by medical professionals. I'm now gunshy about wrist-based BP monitors, but I'll miss the convenience of having an all-in-one, compact unit that travels easily and doesn't smack of "medical appliance/device". (I don't like being reminded 2-3 times a day that something *might* be wrong.)

The wrist unit is somehow less intimidating, but where health parameters are concerned, accuracy is everything.

4It cannot get any easier...Sep 06, 2007
By M. NEGRON "maneve"
This device is very simple to use. Read the instructions; you have to position your arm in a certain location close to the heart. The unit detects its proximity and starts working. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because all my machines run Vista and even though the OS recognizes the device, the Omron software does not "see" it as connected. Maybe they will fix this in the next release of the software. For this reason I cannot say anything about the software that came with it. Also, my Doctor said that the electronic meters are not as accurate as the ones doctors use. I told him I was going to bring mine to his office and compare. I will update this review as soon as I do. Overall, I would recommend the unit to anyone that, like me, is on the run all of the time. You don't even have to keep track of your measurements because the unit keeps about 100 readings in memory.

5Accurate and Easy to UseNov 06, 2007
By TAZZY "TAZZ"
I've used this product for almost a month now. It's easy to use and has proven accurate. I took it to my cardiology appointment and it gave the same readings as the doctor's equipment. Plus, I was told this is the unit most doctors recommend, due to its accuracy. The software that came with it (as well as a USB cord) make it possible to easily download your results onto your computer and print the results or save them. It comes in a sturdy plastic case for storage or travel. The manual is easy to understand. I would recommend this to anyone needing to watch their blood pressure and pulse carefully.
