4A doctor who advises this machine for patientsOct 28, 2005

I like this device-- it's very affordable and works well. I bought one to test and have been pleased with its accuracy and ease of use on myself and patients.

In addition, it stores 14 readings so you can take it to the doctor and let him review your last 14.

I think this is a must for anyone with borderline to high BP as they can easily test their own BP at home and avoid that "white coat" elevation that is common when the only readings are in the doctor's office.

    I recommend it highly.

    5Good product, easy to use.Sep 19, 2005

If you want a simple BP monitor, the Omron HEM 432CN is a very good choice. I found it very neatly packaged and the operation is very simple. I find it reassuring that the pumping mechanism is based on squeezing, I feel it will definitely outlast a battery operated pump, this also makes it lighter + No batteries to change. It does use AA batteries, and they last quite a while. Its a good product at a fair price.

    3Heads up!Jan 23, 2007

Most people who have their blood pressure regularly taken know whether they are using the proper size cuff. Too small a cuff gives a higher than correct reading, whereas the larger cuff would give a false low reading to a person who needs the smaller cuff.

Unfortunately, this monitor comes standard with the smaller cuff. Nowhere in the product description or reviews does it mention this information. The unit cost appears to be a good value. However, to get the larger cuff, you must purchase THAT item separately at an additional cost of twenty dollars or more plus shipping. If it is necessary for you to use the larger cuff, save yourself some time and order one in the $40-50 range which comes with the larger cuff originally and save waiting time - plus the second shipping charge. I know if I had read that information in the description, I would have purchased a different monitor.

5Solid build, easy to use and good accuracy....Jun 18, 2006
    By S. vaneck
My wife had high BP, so we got this model. The reasons for choosing this model were that:

    1. the upper arm monitors are supposed to be more accurate

    2. it was cheaper than the fully automatic models

    3. Omron seems to be one of the better/best brands.

    4. Supposedly, the pumps on the fully automatic models are prone to breaking.

The unit appears well built (including the hand pump). It is easy to operate, and it seems very accurate. We checked its readings with an fully manual unit that we have at home, and the automatic unit at the drug store. We find it takes very accurate and consistent readings.

People with physical limitations might find the hand pump inconvenient. Also, people with a big arm might need to buy the larger cuff. I'm overweight right now, so the cuff barely fits my arm, but fits my wife's nicely (it was bought for her).

5Nice and easy to use - quite accurateNov 03, 2005
    By John Stephenson "Jeefers"
Super easy to use - I love it. We checked and its just as accurate as the manual ones. One user left feedback that the reading changed each time, but this is normal, BP does change in a matter of seconds and will go down quite a bit after you rest. Always take your reading in the same way...ie always sitting after resting 30 seconds etc. That is how you get the best idea of your avg BP.
