5Zaditor saved my sanitySep 14, 2007
By Thomas Aquinas
Over the last month, my eyes had become progressively more red and itchy, until the redness and itching became almost unbearable. My eyes were itchy, BRIGHT red, and constantly tearing. I tried oral antihistamines, NSAIDS (ibuprofen, naproxen), and every other kind of OTC eye drop (anti-redness, seasonal anti-itch/redness, lubricant eye drops) to little avail. Finally, after searching five different medical websites, I found a mention of ketotifen (Zaditor), a prescription medication that had just been made available over-the-counter. I rushed down to the drugstore and picked up a bottle. One drop in each eye provided instant relief, and the relief has increased over time.

Besides being more effective than the typical OTC eye drops, Zaditor is also safer. Do some searching to see for yourself. Another benefit is that Zaditor is effective for up to twelve hours, so you can apply just one drop to each eye when you get up in the morning, and then once at dinner time. Simple.

I can't recommend this product highly enough. Finally, I have to add that I'm happy that this med has been made available OTC, saving me the time and expense of a trip to the eye doctor. Thanks Novartis!

4Satisfied after only 2 days!May 12, 2009
By C. Martino
I've been an allergy sufferer for many years. Up until now the fact that I was a contact wearer prevented me from using allergy eye drops. Since I recently had LASIK was now in a position to try eye drops for my itchy, scratchy, burning, puffy eyes. The first drop I tried was Visine-A, which worked, but only temporarily. I found myself having to put more drops in every couple of hours, which can be a nuisance. After doing some research I decided to try Zaditor, which costs about twice as much as Visine. I've only been using Zaditor for 2 days, but I have noticed a remarkable improvement. I no longer wake up between 3 and 5 times a night due to discomfort. The best part is I only need to apply drops twice a day- once when I wake up and once before I go to bed.

5Finally, eyedrops that workMay 13, 2011
By S. Rose
I suffer from TERRIBLE eye allergies in the Spring. I used Visine-A exclusively in the past, but this year it just wasn't cutting it. In fact, it made my eyes even worse - the drops stung every time I put them in, and my eyes were bright red and oozing every morning, regardless of how recently I had taken medication or put eyedrops in. The pharmacist I went to on campus confirmed that with prolonged use, Visine makes your eyes worse because of the preservatives, and recommended Zaditor instead. I was wary of buying it at first because it didn't say anything about anti-redness (getting rid of the itching was all well and good, but I didn't want my eyes to remain bloodshot). However, after the first day the itching AND the redness cleared up! I do have to use it every 9-12 hours to keep the effects, but it's definitely a lot better than Visine. I think it's worth the price for peace of mind.

5Itchy eye reliefJun 21, 2010

For years I've used the other 'OTC' dry, itchy allergy eye meds. With the warning of risk for using them long term, I suffered more than I needed to. From the first use of Novartis' Zaditor, I use a lot less (one drop per eye, once or twice per day or less frequently) and have a lot less itchiness - which means a lot less 'knuckles in eyes syndrome'. This has been a great help to me.
