I am on chemo therapy and at times have no appetite (or no desire to eat food due to what I know will happen soon after - hint bathroom related!).
The nutritionist recommended this product.
I really ENJOY using it on days when I cannot eat tho know I need the protein. Or for one meal when I need something in my stomach prior to a chemo session.
What I have learned to do is MIX the VHC with an equal amount of milk. The product is very thick as it comes from the can and I would think a bit 'toooo heavy' for most people. Mixing it with milk (an equal amount or more to fill a 10-12 oz glass) for me works GREAT!
Yes on some days I have had three or four of the VHCs when I could not get anything else down (even toast). Not ideal, but got me thru the day.
My oncology team has said that my protein levels and weight have stayed very good during all this time. They nutritionist says 'Hydrate, Nutrition and Good Attitude' are what counts for now. I use whole milk to cut the product .. you might consider skim if needed.
I have not used any other flavors .. I like the vanilla. I have suggest this to others who are having similar chemo-related problems eating and they too have enjoyed the product.
Since I was looking for protein and calories, this proved to be a good source. It is not designed for diet purposes (calorie limitation diets) ... and I used it with the approval of my nutritionist.
Ensure has a higher protein product that I sometimes use .. but this Carnation product REALLY has helped me.

Per my doctor's orders I needed to boost my daily caloric intake. Using this product ( twice a day ) has certainly done that. It is pleasant tasting but I would not be adverse to some other flavor options. I have stopped losing weight and feel much better.

wished they had a chocolate flavor.

I am very pleased with the purchase of this product. I am currently going through a medical condition and the nuritionalist (sp?) suggested I try this because I need all the nutrients I can get to battle my condition. As my title says, this drink tastes like a milkshake with very little aftertaste like most other nutritional drinks I've tried. I could not find this product in my local grocery or drug stores, so that's why I had to order it. I am not too keen on eating breakfast every morning, so this has been the perfect solution for me. I highly recommend it.
