Disappointed with AmericaRX and misleading adMay 03, 2010
By Reader/Writer Ordered this product through Amazon from their vendor, AmericaRx, based on the product description on the Amazon site. The small product photo shows a box with 2 legs and unreadable type except for Futuro. The Product Features describe " FUTURO Therapeutic Support, Open Toe/Heal Knee High, Firm Compression, Beige, Size: Medium, 1 Pair." The shipping charge was over 40% of the product price. I received my order. SURPRISE !!! Only one stocking is in the package. I call the AmericaRx call center (in India) and complain about their misleading ad on Amazon. The stocking, itself, seems adequate but selling only 1 is preposterous. Still, I even offer to pay for a second if AmericaRx will waive a second shipping charge. I am treated rudely with not even a call back.
I explained the situation by email to Sharon at "customer service" (no US phone for AmericaRx) and they deny that the ad is misleading. They blame me for reading "1 pair" when ordering support hose and expecting to find 2 hose (a pair) in the box. They refuse any adjustment. I'm a long time customer of Amazon with no complaints. I hope this is not a new trend. Amazon needs to screen their vendors and their misleading ads more carefully. I would certainly not purchase from this vendor again.

Great Value, Good FitAug 18, 2005
By S. Depenning A few years ago, at my doctor's recommendation, I purchased some expensive custom fitted surgical support stockings to treat my varicose veins. They were hot and uncomfortable, and they bound at the top, creating a blockage just below the knee that actually aggravated a spot on my leg. I quit wearing them and eventually threw them away. Recently, my legs reached the point that I absolutely must wear support sox. I thought, "what the heck," I'll try these cheapies. Well, they provide very good support, are much more comfortable than my expensive surgical sox, and don't bind at the top. I'm a big guy (6'2", 220 lbs), and the XL size fits great. My only suggestion is to try the Futuro dress sox as well. They support quite well and are VERY comfortable (see my other review). I would wear the dress sox all the time (instead of these) if I could get the right colors.

Support Socks Work WellNov 24, 2007

I have worn these support socks for many years. They work well for me. I wish they came two in a package. You have to order two if you want one for each leg.

Futuro compression socksFeb 04, 2009

If you haven't worn compression socks before, it's a going to feel very different than typical socks to you, no matter what brand or type you purchase. Compression socks/stockings are tighter at the ankle and gradually get looser as they get to the calf (longer ones as they get higher up the leg), the reverse of most socks.
That being said, the Futuro firm compression knee high socks are confortable and supportive, but on the thick side as these sorts of socks go, and the open toe/open heel style I choose may create a problem for some people, as there then is a very prominent edge above the heel and at about the middle of the instep, where the material ends. If you have very sensitive feet, this may bother you. As might the bottom edge that ends in the middle of the arch. On the other hand, the material is definitely not slippery as some other, thinner support materials used for the same purpose can be.
If you wear very tight shoes, due to this material's thickness, even with the open toe and heel areas, there may be enough additional bulk that it could make your shoes too snug or bind or pinch in places where they wouldn't ordinarily. (Of course, if your foot is currently swelling even before wearing support stockings in the morning, these may actually result in a looser fitting shoe for much of the latter part of the day.) Before ordering these, to be on the safe side, if you intend to wear regular socks or stockings over the compression ones, I'd suggest that you try wearing a thin pair of socks in addition to whatever socks you normally wear, to give you some idea of the additional space required.
Overall, given the above stated caveats, for those who can tolerate those factors, I consider these to be a very good value, as there are much more expensive stockings available for the same purpose. I have tried other types and brands, which seem to be no more effective than these.

Good buy..hold up wellDec 13, 2011

When I looked at the label inside my old support stocking it said "Futuro." They held up well, offered reasonable comfort, and a fair price. I'm sticking with this brand as long as they continue to offer good quality. They are a bit thicker than most brands, and I haven't experienced any runs or tears with them.
