Company will not back cheap plastic productSep 27, 2010
By arkeye71 I was happy with my dumbbells until one of the selector pin plastic pieces broke. Dumbells have 90 day warranty after that you have to buy replacement parts. You must contact ICON the manufacture of the product for parts. The plastic selector is part of the handle part # 274214 ($102 + ship). They will not sell the part separate. The plastic selector by itself should only cost a couple dollars. Without the selector the dumbbell is worthless. I have called and emailed ICON multiple times just trying to get someone at ICON to see how ridiculous this is with no luck. Save your money buy something else.

great productMar 21, 2009
By Jacob Danielson I have the golds gym version of this product. Same thing just branded different. And much cheaper than whats listed here. I got mine for $350.
I looked at several stores. I looked at the bowflex, power blocks, and proform fusion. I decided on these because they were the cheapest, and they felt very sturdy.
Ive had the set for about two weeks now and have had no plate sticking at all. That seems to be the issue most people have with this weight set. Im gonna share a little secret with you.. Spray some WD40 on the sliding mechanism and where the plates contact the bar. I have not once had a plate stick. However, I also dont carelessly pull the dumbells out of the basket.
The sliding mechanism could be better, but as long as plates are alligned properly and you pull the weight changing pin straight out, you wont have any issues. I'd also like to point out that these are accurate within 1/2 a pound.
These are good for the money. Dont carelessly pull the dumbells out of the backets and WD40 the sliding bits! Do this and you should be golden.

Decent Set if you find a good priceDec 24, 2010
By gary dzurny Well.. first let me say I purchase these through a sale at Costco for $230 shipped. I could find nothing at the time that could compete for the price. I haven't had any problems whatsoever with the plates sticking nor have I had any issues with the pin breaking. Admittedly, I am careful when pulling them in and out of the rack.
I liked these so much that I ended up buying another set (for the same price) for my son who uses them in his dorm room. He too has had no problems with regards to sticking nor pins breaking......
All in all, very happy with these... ( especially given the great price!)
