I have been using Carmex for more than 20 years. My lips chap very easily and many products that are supposed to heal or help with cracked lips end up causing my lips to peel and crack. Carmex keeps my lips soft and protects them from the sun. As to the taste of the product, I don't eat it and I don't lick my lips so I actually have never noticed a bad taste. I can say that the menthol has a soothing feeling and maybe that is what the previous review was referring to. Menthol doesn't have a great taste but then it isn't supposed to be injested it is a topical.

I bought a combo pack of Carmex lip balms at BJ's and I couldn't stand the awful taste. I tossed them all. $15 worth!
