CYSTEX is NOT just a pain reliever. It IS AN ANTIBIOTIC plus a pain reliever and is the only OTC medication that will actually kill the bacteria in the bladder and not just treat the pain. Cystex actually becomes formaldehyde when it reaches the bladder, and formaldehyde is an antibacterial. If you google Cystex you can learn more on how it works.
CYSTEX used to be by prescription only, but now is OTC. Some doctors still advise their patients to try Cystex before being prescribed a prescription antibiotic. You usually have to take more than one dose without a lapse in next dose times in order for it to work. It only works for bladder infections and not for kidney infections.
Cystex also has a salicylic acid in it to help relieve pain, so only take as per directions or it could cause asprin toxicity which can lead to kidney damage, bleeding and hearing loss from taking more than directions say.

I've been dealing with IC (interstitial cystitis) for almost 2 years. Very frustrating--have been to multiple specialists. None of these doctors have helped me deal with IC like Cystex. This product is hands-down the best product I've ever reviewed. Highly recommended for bladder pain, frequency in urination, burning, urinary tract infections.

Most of my life I have had reoccuring problems with cystitis, and have been using Azo standard. Azo standard stains EVERYTHING orange. It does work for a short time, but the cystex seems to work for a longer period of time, taking only one dose and NO STAINS AT ALL. I only use it at bedtime, so that I can sleep throughout the night, with no urges to jump up and run to the restroom. The pain is greatly diminished. It feels so good to sleep through the night. Thank you cystex.

I have suffered from chronic UTI's for many years and they always seems to come on the weekends. I was tired of going to the urgent care and getting a prescription for Cipro every time I felt an UTI coming on, so this morning I decided to try something new. I found many positive reviews on these over the internet and decided to give them a shot. They seemed much more effective than other treatments, plus they had no side-effects (like orange urine!)
If you've ever had a UTI you know you definitely don't want to wait around for shipping so I picked them up from my local pharmacy. This infection was extremely painful but all of my symptoms had subsided within an hour. I was amazed! I'm definitely going to order more of these from amazon to keep on hand for next time. Saves me time, not to mention lot's of money- plus greatly reduces the time I have to suffer .. 5 STARS :)

I have been taking two tablets a day with good effect to prevent UTIs. I think this is a good product.
