What's the point of ease of use without accuracy?May 19, 2010

For people who don't want to mess with test strips, or want a very simple, easy procedure for testing their blood sugar, this meter is right on. However, if you want accurate test results, look elsewhere. The test results fluctuate wildly and are in no way reliable. I have taken multiple readings from the exact same sample within 5 seconds and had the results fluctuate 20 points. This has happened repeatedly. I would rather have a more difficult to use meter and actually have an idea of what my blood sugar is. What a waste of money.

Conflicting Packaging Can Confuse Potential BuyerJul 09, 2009
By Owned By Kitties is Keepin' The Faith Alive
"Just what you want to be You will be in the end"
The picture shown is different than the one shown when I ordered this. I can handle that. But from looking at the box I have, it says "1 Kit" and shows the 10-test disc even stating on the box "10-Test Disc for No Strip Handling." This leads me to believe, and would anyone who wishes to order this product, that the disc is included.
But look at the lower left and it says, "Uses Ascensia Breeze 2 Blood Glucose Test Strips (Not Included)." The disc is definitely NOT included.
A "kit" without a disc doesn't help if you can't use it immediately to check your blood glucose levels. I personally don't mind buying the discs. Others might. I won't discourage anyone from buying this product. Just be aware that you will need to purchase the disc separately.
EDIT: Have received my test strips and performed my first blood glucose test. The meter is easy to set up and use.It doesn't require coding which is great for those of us who want one less thing to think about. Discs are easy to insert. Test strips come up easily. It does take some getting used to tho. You have to center the strip and your drop of blood exactly to be sure sample goes in. I've found the lancets for this meter are sharper and thinner than those for my previous meters. Still, this is so easy to use. Carrying case has plenty of room for testing supplies. Am thrilled with it.

Great productFeb 03, 2011
By jwilson For someone that has Neropathy in your hands this is the perfect meter, no small test strips to load one at a time just load a disk and the meter does most of the rest. (you will still have to stick yourself with a lancet!!) My husband can not handle the small strips as he has very little feeling in his hands, so this meter is really great for us. Saves his readings so I can update the log book in the evening when he gets home and we can both stay in touch with his blood levels. The biggest con is the cost of the test strips, we test at least 5 times a day, we hope down the line it will be less but at this point we spend about 100.00 per month just for the test strips. Cheaper on Amazon then to pay for them with Medical insurance RX coverage or go to a local store! Also when you pull out your test strip and you don't get it used before the meter turns off; I haven't figured out how to restart the test without wasting the test strip and starting over.

Does NOT include test discMay 28, 2009
By Orlando Gator The packaging pictured on Amazon led me to believe that a 10-test disc was included with this meter. IT IS NOT! I bought this package at a local store last year for about $15 - the starter 10-test disc was included. The only difference between this packaging and the package that I bought at the local store is the tiny "Uses Ascensia Breeze2 Blood Glucose Test Strips (not included)" message in the lower left-hand corner, that doesn't show up in the Amazon photo. I could have bought this thing, with the test disc that I actually need, for less than $20 at a local store. I'm not diabetic - I only want to do a few tests once a year - buying the 25/50 count test discs is too expensive. I'll be shopping for items like this locally in the future, instead of on the Internet. I need to be able to read the package to know what I'm getting. Amazon should write "test discs sold separately" in the product description.

Very easy to useApr 27, 2010

Got this meter, from my vet. ( I know, and odd place to get one!) My dog is an insulin dependent, diabetic and we need to start keeping track of his glucose levels. I was surprised at how easy it is to use. I was very apprehensive about taking blood samples from my dog but this took the fear out of it. He didn't seem to mind.(except for being in the vets office) I must admit that I don't have any experience with other meters. That being said, I feel that I am giving my dog the best possible care he can get.
