Thanks Doc!Jul 25, 2006

"Laurie's Boomer Views"
"Aveeno - Daily Moisturizing Lotion" was recommended to me by my Doctor. My skin was so dry this year, that I was using lotions like crazy. I tried so many of them, and within hours I had to reapply. I was always feeling greasy after application. It was like I was oiling up to swim the English Channel or something.
So I gave this one a try. One more to add to the list. The difference was this one actually worked! It says it moisturizes for 24 hours (yeah right!, I thought), and it does. It absorbs quickly, and left my skin feeling much smoother. One tip my Doctor gave me, that I'll pass along is to just barely pat dry after showering, and apply the lotion while still a little wet. That way the lotion will capture the moisture.
The ingredients use an Oatmeal formula and contains the following:Dimethicone 1.25% (Skin Protectant)|Water|Glycerin|Distearyldimonium Chloride|Petrolatum|Isopropyl Palmitate|Cetyl Alcohol|Avena Sativa Kernel Flour (Oat)|Benzyl Alcohol|Sodium Chloride. It is fragrance free and states it will not clog pores.
Now here's the really good part..I bought this in the 12 0z. size at my local market and it cost even more then the single 18 0z. size here. This 2 pack is a super good deal. Next time you are at the grocery store, check the prices. So throw it in your Amazon cart, and by the way, although it doesn't say eligible for free shipping on the product page, when I added it to my cart, the free shipping icon(with required total) showed up.
Great for dry, chapped, flaking or windburned skin. Take it with you on sailing or skiing trips. Excellent product and great buy.
Thanks for the advice Doc!...I'm wearing my dark colored clothes again....Laurie

I totally agree with LShirley...Aug 08, 2006

I too was utterly fed up with the claims of expensive lotions and their producers, making false and misleading statements about their "amazing" moisturising abilites.
Some of these lotions worked well enough at the moisture bit but at the cost of making you feel like an butter basted chicken most of the day!
I approached the 24 hour effect/ non-pore clogging claims of Aveeno with scepticism. I was very surprised and for once, entirely satisfied with the purchase. It is lovely. It works, it has a pleasant and subtle aroma. Reminded me of very mild, wheatgerm shampoo my Mother swore by in the 70's. Moreover it has excellent healing properties, I had not realised that oats have long been recognised as a major skin healer; even helpful for chronic skin conditions like psoriasis.
LShirley is absolutley right and the post showering tip is excellent. Another tip I would add for problem skin sufferers is to have an oatmeal bath once or twice a week. Have a regular shower to clean yourself, then run a bath with a small mesh/nylon or muslin bag (an old clean sock works!) filled with porridge oats; tied directly under the hot tap (fawcet). Then just soak yourself in the healing fluid!

The only lotion that I am NOT allergic to!Mar 16, 2010
By M. Bogerman Due to having had cancer and have gone through chemo I now react to any type of perfume or dye out there. I really truly do. I have tried everything under the sun until I found plain old Aveeno. I can't even use the Lavender Aveeno but that is ok. This is just as good. My skin stays soft and supple for days. I no longer get rashes from my medications or from too much sun exposure. This stuff is magic. It has solved all of my poor skin issues. And I am extremely pale as well.

Was too good to be trueMar 17, 2008

I agree with most of the nice things stated in other reviews: The texture is nice, it's highly moisturizing without greasiness and absorbs quickly. However, after several days of using it after bathing, an odd rash appeared, almost like a heat rash in appearance, but raised and VERY itchy. I had been so happy with the lotion that I suspected other causes at first, like perhaps detergent or clothing, but the rash sadly didn't disappear until I discontinued use of the lotion. I'm glad others seem not to have had trouble, but be careful: if you start to itch, stop using the lotion immediately! It'll save you a lot of pain.

Temporary ReliefNov 27, 2008
By Deborah K. Dobbins
"~Triple D~"
I work in a field which requires me to wash my hands multiple times a day and have problems with dry hands and skin in the winter time. As you can imagine, my hands and other skin can become very irritated from washing and cold weather. I've been using Aveeno for many years now and have found that it provides a great temporary relief of these issues, and perhps the superior results over other brands that "claim" to have similar healing powers.
Wihle I've found Aveeno products to be of good quality, there are a few things that you should be aware of before using this item. 1- For people who have to wash their hands repeatedly it doesn't last 24hrs. You do have to reapply a few times a day to maintain an optimal coating. 2- If your hands or other skin is severley dry or cracking it can cause further irritation. The only way for me to avoid this extra irritation is to soak in a hot bath to let the skin hydrate a bit, then apply the lotion.
That being said, I really think Aveeno lotions are the best out there. Most have very little if any odor when compared to others that smell like fruit baskets, and they work well on dry irritated skin. I like to put on a layer of Aloe gel and then ad a coating of Aveeno over that. I've also found that applying 10-15 drops of rubbing alcohol after applying the Aveeno helps to smoothe out the lotion and eliminate any greasy or sticky feeling on my hands. (((don't ask me how it works, it just does!)))
Obviously you will want to speak to your docotor before trying any new products, but I highly recommend this to those who suffer from minor dry skin irritations.
